Today (04/13) I was able to see my ranking on the BBA list.  Plus had to cycle between home and the mission screen to vote on stored up "films". 

 

So, not sure if the broken BBA is fixed... but it seems like it was resolved AND in the middle of an even week (Easter).

Kudos to the developers for apparently fixing this bug, promptly after I complained about it.  My apologies for not saying something sooner.

Yes, it is broken.  Development knows about it, and they hope to have an update out soon.

 

The Nutaku API is apparently a beast.

And yes, FWIW, they did test the BBA before they went live with this update, it broke in production.

When two groups are writing software independently, like Playata and Nutaku, they agree upon an API. This allows them to proceed on their own way, building updates. Theoretically, Playata can add a special event, test that it works, then submit their code into production on the Nutaku system. The Playata code calls the appropriate functions within the Nutaku code, and it should all work.

 

This time, and several times in the past (as you know), it didn't.

 

I am not a developer, and have no insight into exactly how Playata tests that the system will work on Nutaku before releasing into production. But I do know, that where Playata has full control over the development system, there is no bug. Either Nutaku has a bug in their code, or there is an unforeseen interaction on the production systems.

 

That is not to say there is nothing to be done. I am just saying, this is an issue where there are more than the normal number of moving parts. There are likely to be more problems here (we have proof of that statement), and it is harder to get fixes made, because Playata and Nutaku may have to work together before solving the issue.

 

I know Playata is working on it, but have no further information about an ETA for a fix.

And finally, to paraphrase Pres. Ford, our long, server-wide nightmare is over! BBA is working again.

 

EDIT: Of course, now it's gone crazy. Anytime I start or finish a mission, even ones that don't reward BBA ballots, I get one anyway.

That is expected behavior, GingerSnaps. The game keeps track of the number of times you should have voted during the outage. Each mission you take afterwards, the game checks to see if you have a ballot to use. And you do, you have a bunch stored up! So it asks you to vote.

 

After you use up the ballots you accumulated during the outage, it should stop asking unless you have just earned another.

Also, I have confirmed that all players got their proper BBA rewards.

 

My two studios got a clean sweep this week! Congratulations to Audrey4 who won the BBA on Nutaku, and to uFUCKme, who won on UK1 for the third straight week.
