Anyone else getting annoyed by the change in the game balance since the last update.  When Party tickets were changed from open-ended to time reset, the party areas themselves were rebalanced.  In the latest challenge this means that a decent level player (I'm at 217) is losing Burning Bernie.

While I'm not suggesting the game should giveaway events to even a super high level player, it's seems overkill for me to be losing the 1st party level.

The devs need to review party level algorithms and correct the game balance.

I'm not experiencing a more difficult "Burning Bernie".  I am however missing out on Party Tickets, for the daily play.  That's not been freely coming my way since the change.

Anyone else experiencing a harder time at "Bernie" ?

Only slightly worse on the skill missions, but I miss being able to get 2 or 3 tickets a day. The gear was a huge help in gaining notes

Where I've been "losing" is in the fight missions.  Yesterday, I went through 7 tries on Challenge 10 (against the crazy scientist) before I finally won and moved on.  Didn't make it to the final boss mission because I ran out of time and wasn't going to pay the 99 diamonds (which is amazingly overpriced) to buy the additional minutes.

Since the latest patch, I've lost Burning Bernie 3 times... first two to a mix of skill / fight missions and the last as I said above.

Like I said, these shouldn't be dead simple but besides the 1 per day party ticket change there's clearly been a major upcharge in game balance which needs to be fixed or it'll push players out the door.

Your level is what the numbers are based on. It looks like you might have just went up a threshold, meaning the numbers are higher than they were, making them more difficult to do.

I always thought the fight was based on the skill points you were presently at, and your opponent was x-amount percent lower (or higher later in the party track) compared to you.

One thing I have noticed, at least for me, the Bernie party seems to get easier as I gain Levels.

the fight is based on your skill points, but the skill missions are based on your levels. So if you have low sp for your level, they are difficult to get through.

All I know is that prior to the most recent changes, I didn't have a huge difficulty getting through any of the parties except whiplash which was more hit / miss.

If the devs want to make even the lowest level party (Burning Bernie's) difficult that increases the chance of player frustration and a decision to stop being a part of the game.

It comes down to an appropriate game balance.  I know 2 people who stopped playing because they wouldn't, or couldn't, afford to be consistent diamond players.  If the hurdle is going to be pay-to-win then this game will die from turnover.  I want the balance to be leveled at a reasonable challenge while still being allowed to proceed forward.

I've focused on doing sufficient play time to level up and earn the notes to increase my skill points in every category.  So the difficulty is not coming from a failure to invest in the game.

This post tickled my curiosity and yesterday i tried bernie burning. It was ages i was not doing it because normally i always do whiplash.
I did bernie burning without issues and without changing clothes for the skill missions.
When i do whiplash i change clothes for the hard skill missions and for the medium ones only for strength and stamina.
Result: i find bernie burning much easier.
Now this can be due to several reasons, one of them being that i was furiously rubbing my pussy ( as usual). How does this matter? It matters because i think it is a matter of luck. Making it or not depends on the random generation of the difficulty of the challenges and thus it is a matter of probability. On average the challeneges are easy but a particularly unlucky player can face the situation where a particularly long seriès of unfortunately highly difficult challenges are randomly generated. They call this "conspiracy of the CREATORS" but it is not: it is pure lack of luck.
Omg. I woke up at 3.45 to pee and see what i did...
Conclusion before i go back to bed: be happy and rub what you have: it will help your luck and bernie burning will be easier.

(LOL, MIm.)

I say it this way: Just because a random process doesn't go your way, it doesn't mean the universe is actually conspiring against you. It just feels that way.

To jaxson's issue:

The parties are designed as torture tests. To beat them consistently, you have to be building a strong avatar.

I don't know your character, levels, stats, refines, so have no specific advice to give. All I will say is, you can put a ton of time into this game building a sub-optimal avatar. Then the parties will be hard. It has been speculated that one of the previous updates changed how the scaling works in parties. If they are actually looking at your stats as you go into a party mission, as opposed to at the end of the previous one, then parties are harder to manipulate. You need a character that can actually beat the parties, as opposed to just fooling the tests with gear changes.

The typical problem I see is players who think experience is all that. It ain't. Skills are what kill in this game. Focus on the notes to buy skill, and on activities that reward free skill points, like movie ballots and movies and finishing achievements.

You may know that already. In that case, a more specific examination would be required.

I have retired from the game, but not from life.
In love with my Baby.

Hey Jaxson, something else to consider... take a look at your refinements.

Fights within parties are somewhat designed to be hard.  They are based on your current skills, modified by level.  It's like boxing a doppelganger genetically designed to get stronger as you advance...

For example, if you are at level 150 then your party fight opponents will be at levels 149, 150, 151, 152, and 153 respectively.  The fights within a party get increasingly difficult as you proceed.

If the the first opponent is at level 149, it will be at 98% of your current skills, and you SHOULD mathematically WIN.  Likewise, your last opponent at level 153, will be at 105% your current skills, and mathematically you SHOULD lose.  But as you know, there is SO much randomness to duels.

Where I find the randomness to be most prevalent is in the REFINEMENTS.  You need to go into the fight with some of the best refinements on, otherwise the opponent could be granted the better refinement.  Rarely do I see the opponent wearing the same exact refinement as you, meaning they do not match your refinement one for one at the same type, rarity, and percentages.  So if you go into the battle with 100% Smelling Salts on your boots (which is one of the best refinements of them all), the opponent will have an inferior refinement on their boots.

Having the better Refinements can turn the tide in almost any party duel.

Best of luck getting back out there and tackling your wily opponents.

Now if only I could find a party ticket, I might do the same.  Smug.png

Very interesting... KK,

I wonder if it is due to Refinements, if you have +X% Charisma on some items, etc.  Well, congrats for you - usually, and I say usually as in if I ever get challenged, only the last PARTY FIGHT in the track (final boss) gives me trouble, but that's just me.

Thanks for the observation!

I actually did Bernie only on my stars the last temple because I was able to win it almost every time. I think I had one party across my 4 stars where I didn't get the last fight done. I do think you should be able to get past parties being difficult. As for higher level players needing things to stay challenging? Add more parties :P
