Hey yall,

 

I was thinking about a stat where it shows an individual player's highest finish in big bang awards (excluding the #1 finishes we get when the game screws up).  Is it posible to add it to the "your star" screen?

Sounds like a cool idea - there were some of us that wanted to see a more complete BBA historical ranking piece added.  It's been suggested, nothing has come from that as of yet.

yes if you wish to spend diamonds to vote on your own film, you may have to refresh hundreds of times to get yours to come up. Not sure how you want to make it fair, not being able to vote on your own? Have dozens of titles to vote on instead of 2? What kind of idea did you have for fairness?

I don't know if there is a "fair" approach to the Big Bang Awards.

 

But the intent of my suggestion was more about having something in the profile that has your highest finish in the awards.  Or number of top 100 finishes.  Something like that.  It would be kinda cool to see for other players.  For example, I don't even know the best I have done in the BBA but it would be kinda cool for me to look on my profile and find out.

you can see your finishes by looking back at the films you have done. Your entered films are tagged with a stand and the place they finished.

That is true.... but that's gonna be a ton of scrolling. I've done 1100 movies... hahahahahahaa

I like the suggestion of Hot16 :-)
I would apply the same logic to the results in conventions. And i also think these improvements should be easy to implement as the information are already there as mountbara has explained.
It is just a matter of making them easily visible. :-)

Concerning the voting system i would simply modified it in this way:
- always show the name of the star.
- allow to opt out: i want to be able not to to vote for any.
And of course the probability to participate in the polls should be capped.

Omg...why am doing this?!?!?!

I want to be able to vote in this order:
1. For my friends
2. For the covers i like

I feel like playata is forcing something on me, i feel like it is a violence on me, each time i have to vote for a whoever that appears in the polls just because they sit in a studio who had a fucking film trophy.
Is it possible to write fucking here?

so you think you should never see a film twice as you are refreshing through the list? You realize that there are over 3000 films, so a possibility of 1500 refreshes the first 2 days to find yours don't you?

Film trophies aren't all that, though.

 

Films that don't get voted for leave the voting process.  Eventually, each Sunday, only the top 100 films are shown.

 

That is when the diamond users come out. They aren't necessarily refreshing just to find their own films. They refresh to find films from their studio. Since it is only out of 100 films, and they are only looking for studio mates, they don't have to refresh all that often.  And as has been pointed out elsewhere, it generally only takes a handful of votes to swing the contest.

 

Get 3 to 5 of the members in an active studio doing that, and the rest of the BBA mechanics simply don't matter. The studio of super spenders will be able to defeat any number of film trophies.

I would tend to disagree - everything you say is true Capt, except Film Trophies ARE ALL THAT now - - an active studio possessing multiple film trophies in the previous week is almost a lock to get their covers in the TOP 100 on final day.  That's the non-trick in all of this.

 

Film trophies have broken the BBA "fairness" (not that it ever was fair) as we understood it prior to their existence.  And now there are more of them (film trophies, that is) as of last game update/patch.

 

Just look at how one of two studios on UK2 (and this was before the recently added 5 new film trophies) will have 9 out of 10 covers in the TOP 10 after just 1/2 week of voting, when supposedly all 3K covers are up for vote.  That has nothing to do with diamond spending on final day, but it sets them up nicely to not even have to.

I should have been more clear. I am not at all arguing that film trophies shouldn't be fixed. They should be. 

 

I am essentially echoing Kitekat's comments. Even fixing film trophies still leaves a fundamental bias in favor of diamond spenders.

 

One can argue whether or not using diamonds is legitimate or not, but the fact is, diamonds still let you win. It's not a fair system in the sense that "getting first is open to all". You will still be required to be in a studio with active diamond spenders to actually have a shot at #1, or be on a server where no studio uses that tactic.

 

My suspicion is that one reason the game doesn't make it easy to track who won the BBA over time, is that it will expose how much it is dominated by a very few free-spending players/studios.

We are in agreement there - and that was my point, that it was only seemingly fair prior.  The BBA victory could almost assuredly be bought with diamonds before - but now for a given trophy holding studio they can do so with even less diamond spending.

i am talking about normal voting without diamonds

is my film this week so bad that it get  only a single vote and is out of the system already tuesday ?

what a shame for such a fine cover !

 

what i am talking  about the whole time is that on monday morning after  only some votes it is possible that some films alredy have several votes

 

and this system with cutting away the less voted films is another totally senseless act
