In the past month, we have lost the #2, #3, and #4 ranked players from US2. I have seen similar trends on other servers, although not quite so high. People are leaving, there are many reasons for it.

I am not sure about that. Ranked 188 on uk2 with nearly zero play time. Meaning there are very few active players on that server, I suspect all servers are similar at this point

 

As much as the server US2 we all know 1 of the reasons behind it, UK2 is still seemingly quite decent. Not as strong as before, but still going well. As a server matures, it's common logic players quit, especially after spending years and years every single day on a game, and if top10, likely also money. Eventually, people move on, life can throw pretty damn curveballs at ya in 4-5 years, that make you change. New jobs, new homes, babies... name it.

To answer your question Mount, ultimately the answer is no. Its just a matter of how much life the game has till it dies. I can't even remember half the MMOs I've played in the past 20 some odd years. I've been a pirate, a pimp, a drug dealer, a secret agent, cowboy multiple times, gangsta, and owned a magic shop in a little town by a hill. Played as a human, dwarf, ogre, and halfling (never an elf). I hate those pretentious pointy eared bastards. Prior to finding BBE I was a flower knight general. Oh how I miss my flower knights. Some of these past games I've played somehow might be limping along still ala Flower Knight Girl.

 

I've been playing BBE now for over a year and a half. So for most of the people that post here, no I don't know anything about the good old days. But this game still has plenty of life in it. New players are still finding the game and enjoying it. At least on NU1 they are. I had no idea this game had so many servers till I filled out my profile here in the forums. When devs start consolidating worlds on servers, or consolidating servers all together, thats when you know a game has jumped the shark so to speak or is in decline for those of you that don't get a Happy Days reference or know what Happy Days was.

 

As to your point that the # 2, 3, and 4 players left a server. Thats not possible cause others are there to take their places. Its just a changing of the guard. As to their respective reasons for leaving and their complaints, grumblings, and threats to leave they type in these forums goes.... sometimes people need to feel they hate something before they can walk away from it. They need to feel frustrated, or wronged, or cheated. They have to put on a public display, and then feel justified by their actions. In reality its quite sad in my opinion. Especially when given the fact that most of those people will never remember the enjoyment they had playing the game for so long. In hind sight they will only remember the frustration they felt and justification they got when they left. Where as when the day comes I don't log in any more I will just go quietly into the night. So that later Bagger will be able to remember with a smile that once upon a time I ran a porn studio and banged a lot of women in taxis and nurses stations.

 

On the constructive side DP, I do think the game could use some freshening up. Some new clothes patterns, things, to buy with room scents, studio art ext. Or if your artist are feeling really generous, as a male character the ability to put my thumbs down the carpal tunnel is killing me. Sorry if this ran a bit long.

I have climbed over 200 ranks on NU1 despite never attempting to gain glory points. That server is bleeding people rapidly

Definitely worth to pass the ideas to the devs. I do agree, so far lately it's just different colours of already existing gear

 

hmmm, there are a lot of servers, I believe bbe itself has around 50 total (globally) and HZ has even more as far as I know (same dev).

And to put my thumb down. I'd pay diamonds to put my thumb down. I wouldn't care if I couldn't see my arm tattoo. I only got that for the achievement.

To make this clear:

Nine months ago, on Int2, our #2 was deleted.  Then a month later, #2 quit.  Last month, #2 left the game.  Last week, #2 was no longer playing.

I knew what was meant. But to lose that many top ranked players that quickly is a bad thing.

People just not staying for the friends then  I am just staying for the amazing friends, and I'm playing for over 5 years  (well, over 5 years from my 1st server. My NU1 account is over 4 years)

 

(and from HZ, I'm playing for over 7 years hahaha but I'm getting really tired of that game)

In my experience, the way a server shows up on first joining also has an effect. UK1 was booming until UK2 came along, and was the first server listed. This meant new players went to UK2, and UK1 shrank as a result of natural wastage. But it's still rumbling along, and like many players I stay there because of the friends I have there. I'd miss my good bud Drillbob after 5 years in our own studio!
