I had guessed that top tier fighting might have increased looking for a movie trophy.  From a studio rank view not really any change in outcome, still about the number of studio players that try and how hard.  This just has a known cap per day for most of us so it's not as motivating for some.  However, unlike the movie points one, a diamond free player can get the same number of points on three short films as the diamond spender can on speeding through the 3 hour movies.

SOLO temple however seems like it will have a HUGE group all tied for 126 points with anyone else that misses even 1 star not making the reward cut.  That's my expectation anyway.

It'll be neat to see how it shakes out in the end.

There is at least one other trick. Smart players can steal an extra 3 stars at the beginning of the event, for example.

And by smart, you mean those who are in time zones where they are awake, or are willing to forgo sleep to play the game

It can be done with sleep as well. As long as you start a movie before the day resets and the temple starts (and don't get a star yet) you can then leave the movie and sleep. 

Then, when you get back and the temple is running, you pay to extend the expired movie and get the stars (or film points for the other movie temple). That's how I do it with notes, no diamonds.

Well, for certain I'm not in 1 of those timezones. But... I did start a 30 minute movie on Wednesday evening, and run it the next morning. Spent 200k notes on it to reactivate it next morning to get 30 minutes to finish it. Didn't spend a single diamond on it, but was worth the extra 6 points

I'm fine with this this new temple.  My studio is one of those which gave up a duel trophy to get an extra movie trophy.

What I don't like is that the top 3 solo temple winners all get the same prize.  Why bother to be #1 when #3 is just the same.  And for this temple, I can foresee a lot of #2 and #3's.  I'd suggest that #1 gets extra 2000 xp, #2 gets 1000 xp, and #3 gets 500 xp.

Well I would say if people are tied for 2nd then there is no 3rd place.  And being 1st means you fall to 2nd if someone passes you at the last instant unlike being 3rd and getting passed.  Still up to you if that is motivation enough.

I use notes to finish movies all the time! It isn't part of any cunning strategy mind you, it's because I often multitask and lose track of time, forgetting that I had a movie going. I pay fair and square for my senility dag gummit!

I kinda liked the temple, at least it got some studios making moves for movie trophies and you don't have to pick long movies all the time to do well in the temple.

I liked it as well. Refreshing for 3 hour long movies, and actually doing 5 of them a day was torture. This temple I could do 5 30 minute movies and go to sleep. 

It was fun.  Still a hard cap for the ranked 15 and below.  But the top 8 I'm sure had some new side play to help advance.
